Las Farolas
a living museum

F. I. S. H. E. S.

Focus on Intensified and Scientific Harnessing of the Environment and its Sustainability

The world is in danger of extinction. The order of things is throwing us off balance.

Purpose
Las Farolas was established, first and foremost, to showcase the rich biodiversity of aquatic resources, both the endemic and exotic, including the flora and the fauna that thrive in the freshwater environment. An oceanarium in concept, designed with keeping the pristine habitat in mind, Las Farolas aims to help the natural world through conservation and preservation of the resources and serve the public through educational activities and research.

Introduction
This is a very dismal view of the future. But this is the reality that we face everyday. Ballooning human population, the indiscriminate destruction of natural resources, our daily activities – all invariably contribute to the eventual demise of the very planet we live in.

This crisis poses as a great challenge to us. But it has become a great motivator to rally organizations and governments to heed the call to save our planet. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) of the Republic of the Philippines drafted and enacted policies that encourage the preservation of endangered species and their deteriorating habitat by employing ecologically-sound development practices.

Las Farolas, a collaboration between HGB Moment Philippines, Inc. and Ortigas and Company assumes the responsibility of managing precious and irreplaceable freshwater resources by serving as an appropriate venue for exhibition, conservation and preservation, education, research and tourism purposes.

As a venue for exhibition, Las Farolas stands in as a tour destination where the public can experience and explore the rich freshwater biodiversity. It has a carefully laid-out plan in creating an experiential adventure that will leave pleasant memories.
